All You Need To Know About The Latest Celeb Beauty Trend The Face Sheet Mask.

It’s the new trend in celebrity selfies: face sheet mask selfies. This lazy girl’s facial has become a huge trend since it landed in the states and Europe from Asia, and for good reason. The product consists of a thin cotton sheet doused in a liquid-based formula that claims to moisturize, brighten, and even treat fine lines. And it’s supposed to be super-easy to use: Just tap on and go. Everyone from January Jones to Karlie Kloss is trying the treatment and showing Insta evidence of it. We did a little research to find out the truth about these masks!

So they’re called masks but are they really? Well, they are called that way because of their resemblance to the Phantom of the Opera‘s go-to accessory, not because they have the same results as your tried-and-true face mask. The cotton sheets are actually doused in a serum-based formula, so they won’t exfoliate or cleanse deeply. However, most are packed full of vitamins, amino acids, and minerals so they do come with their own set of benefits. They also won’t dry out the skin like a clay mask formula.

Some say the masks can replace a Serum but therefore you have to use the mask on a daily basis cause the hydration of the mask won’t last more than one day. When we compare the prices of the face sheet mask we may say that daily use can get pretty pricy. Prices range form $3 a mask to $13,50 a mask, so the monthly costs would be insane! No wonder celebs love them, they’ve got money to blow.
We’re not saying you shouldn’t use them, just use your serum like you normally would and think of the mask as a special treatment (once a week) for added glow.

Even though the packages of the masks make different promises like – lifting, preventing acne, hiding fine lines – you should only count on them for hydration. Another thing you should know is that the masks really aren’t suitable for acne prone skin, even if the sellers want you to believe otherwise. When you wear the mask the temperature of you skin increases, higher temperature can increase the bacteria count on the surface of the skin, causing acne! If you have acne-rone skin and you want to try the mask, just try it on a section of your face like the side of your cheek. Check for new blemishes the next day before proceeding with a full mask.

What’s great about the masks is the fact that they’re super clean. You don’t have to wash your hands if you put them on cause you’re not touching your face. They have become an airplane staple because they’re so portable.
